MBA in Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing
The Stirling University MBA in Entrepreneurship
and Business Venturing provides students with the applied
skills, competencies and knowledge required in both starting and
growing a business enterprise. The course is delivered through a
rigorous theoretical framework and is focused on the development
of strong interpersonal, management and entrepreneurial skills. |

Course Structure |

The course is structured with awards at
Certificate, Diploma and Masters levels. The award criteria for
each level relate to the number of modules taken and the
student's performance overall.
Modules
The six mandatory modules, which each
represent about 150 student effort hours as follows,
- Introducing entrepreneurship
- Launching a new venture
- Growing your own business
- Experiencing entrepreneurship
- Creativity and entrepreneurship
- Business strategy
Students take four out of the six elective
modules, which each represent about 150 student effort hours as
follows.
- The marketing entrepreneurship interface
- Financial management for the small firm
- Commercialization
- Corporate entrepreneurship
- Internationalization
- Small and medium enterprise policy
studies
- Masters Dissertation Module This /nodule
represents 300 student effort hours.

To be awarded the Masters Degree in
Entrepreneurship and Business Venturing students will need to:
- Complete a total of six mandatory and 4
elective modules and all associated coursework
- Pass all module examinations
- Complete and pass an approved project and
dissertation.
Developing the ability to act in an
entrepreneurial way is the key objective of the programme at all
levels. Following on from this is the desire to assist
individuals to develop their competencies in all areas relating
to both starting and growing a business enterprise.
The course is aimed at individuals who wish to
study entrepreneurship with a view to:
- Starting a business of their own at some
point in the future;
- Improving their ability to manage and
develop an existing business of any size in an
entrepreneurial way;
- Understanding and enjoying the subject
the area of entrepreneurship.

Entry Requirements
This MBA is open to holders of an honors
degree or the equivalent recognized by the University. In
addition, there is an "open access" route for students who do
not meet the normal entrance requirements but who have either
professional qualifications or work experience which can be
taken into consideration. In such cases, each student's prior
experience and learning will be considered and, if accepted,
students take an introductory module. Satisfactory completion of
this module allows the student to progress to the rest of the
MBA course. |
